Kiddie Krispies

My daughter loves to cook. So much so that we got her a play kitchen for Christmas which she loves. However, despite her having her own ‘play food’, I still manage to find squashed mushrooms and dried potato peelings sticking to her saucepans in her attempt to be the youngest Michelin starred chef in the UK!

Being a toddler, she has the attention span of a gnat. So that means whatever I cook with her has to be super quick, otherwise she loses interest very quickly and runs off to find Daddy’s IPad (and then suddenly she has a fantastic attention span once she’s found CBeebies on BBC IPlayer!)

So, these super quick Marshmallow Crispy Cakes are a fantastic cooking activity for fidgety toddlers. There is some heating over the stove involved which I would do myself, but your little one can join in with all the rest of the recipe making,

Marshmallow Crispy Cakes

Ingredients

6 oz Marshmallows

6 oz Toffees

6 oz Margarine

6 oz Rice Crispies

Method

1. Slowly heat the marshmallows, toffees and margarine in a saucepan and stir regularly until melted.

3. Take off the heat and stir in the Rice Crispies.

4. Spoon into muffin cases. (I use an old fashioned ice cream scoop for this.) If you run out of muffin cases (like I did!) then you can pour into a baking tin and allow to cool.

5. Once cooled, enjoy!!
