Grange Over Sands is one of my favourite places to visit. It’s a tiny little village in the Lake District and is perfect if all you’re really looking for is a place to feed the ducks, potter round some local shops and find a coffee shop for some lunch or afternoon tea.
Living nearby, we like to go on a Sunday afternoon. Mairi loves feeding the ducks and our dog Charlie loves barking at them! (She has also been know to attempt to chase them, but failed miserably and ended up in the pond!)
There are of course plenty of other places to go and things to do nearby Grange. Only a few minutes away by car you can visit Holker Hall with the award winning Lakeland Motor Museum or the gorgeous medieval village of Cartmel with its great 12th century Priory, its Market Square with independent gift shops and unique racetrack.
Or if you’re partial to damsons then the Lythe Valley at damson blossom time is the perfect place to buy some locally picked damsons to make your own jam or gin!
